Look for a DQ200 mechatronic part and you will find dozens of numbers that start with 0AM. Many look almost identical, and a single letter at the end can mark a different revision or production batch. A part ordered with the wrong number may not fit the car, or may not fix the fault.

This guide lists the 37 0AM part numbers you meet most often on the mechatronic of the 7-speed dry-clutch DSG (DQ200), grouped by component, followed by the checks to make before you order.

How to read a 0AM part number

The DQ200 is the Volkswagen Group 7-speed dry dual-clutch DSG used in Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Škoda models; its gearbox codes are 0AM and 0CW. The 0AM prefix shows that a part belongs to this gearbox family, the middle digits identify the part, and the final letter marks a revision, a design update or a production batch.

Complete mechatronic unit: 0AM 927 769

0AM 927 769 is the complete DQ200 mechatronic unit. It controls clutch actuation, the solenoid valves and the hydraulic pressure of the DSG 7 gearbox.

Over the years the unit was revised many times — software, electronic board and hydraulics — and each revision has its own letter: 0AM 927 769A, 0AM 927 769B, 0AM 927 769C, 0AM 927 769D, 0AM 927 769E, 0AM 927 769F, 0AM 927 769G, 0AM 927 769H, 0AM 927 769J, 0AM 927 769K, 0AM 927 769L, 0AM 927 769M, 0AM 927 769N, 0AM 927 769P and 0AM 927 769Q. A complete unit is the most expensive repair in this list, yet the fault is often in a single component: the electronic board, a solenoid valve or the accumulator. Before ordering, bench-test the existing unit on the FDY mechatronic test device, which measures solenoid currents, leak tightness, pump performance and pressure build-up.

Pressure accumulator: 0AM 325 025 and 0AM 325 587

The accumulator stores the hydraulic pressure generated by the pump and smooths out pressure fluctuations.

This is a known weak point of the DQ200. In the original design, the accumulator's attachment point to the mechatronic housing is thin-walled and cracks over time, causing pressure loss, fault codes P17BF, P189C and P1895, harsh or delayed shifts and emergency mode.

The FDY reinforced accumulator, made from double-wall, high-quality steel, eliminates this weak point. It is fitted into the supplied cup, with 2 pre-installed O-rings, and secured with the original screws, so the mechatronic plate is not replaced. In most cases only the oil pan is removed, and no reprogramming is needed. It fits 0AM and 0CW gearboxes.

Before you order: four checks

• Read the number on the old part. Photograph it complete with its final letter and any additional manufacturer codes.
• Do not ignore the letter. A later letter usually means a newer part, but not necessarily a better one, or the right one for your car.
• Confirm with the VIN. Check compatibility against the vehicle identification number in the parts catalogue or with your parts supplier.
• Test first, then order. Replacing a complete unit without measuring which component has failed often leads to unnecessary costs.
